Delve into the history of the sinister Count Dooku in this audio original set in a galaxy far, far away....

Darth Tyranus. Count of Serenno. Leader of the Separatists. A red saber, unsheathed in the dark. But who was he before he became the right hand of the Sith? As Dooku courts a new apprentice, the hidden truth of the Sith Lord's past begins to come to light.

Dooku's life began as one of privilege - born within the stony walls of his family's estate, orbited by the Funeral Moon where the bones of his ancestors lie interred. But soon, his Jedi abilities are recognized, and he is taken from his home to be trained in the ways of the Force by the legendary Master Yoda.

As he hones his power, Dooku rises through the ranks, befriending fellow Jedi Sifo-Dyas and taking a Padawan of his own, the promising Qui-Gon Jinn - and tries to forget the life that he once led. But he finds himself drawn by a strange fascination with the Jedi Master Lene Kostana and the mission she undertakes for the Order finding and studying ancient relics of the Sith, in preparation for the eventual return of the deadliest enemies the Jedi have ever faced.

Caught between the world of the Jedi, the ancient responsibilities of his lost home, and the alluring power of the relics, Dooku struggles to stay in the light - even as the darkness begins to fall.

"Okay, the first thing you have to understand is this is not a book. It is an audio drama with minimal narration. Many details are presented with sound effects and inference rather than descriptions.

With a full cast of experienced Star Wars narrators, the sound is brilliant. Tempo and vocal inflection changes are near-perfect, and the voices are mostly great. I have only one complaint: Dooku in the present sounds like Darth Sidious, which doesn't remotely resemble any iteration of Dooku I've heard before.

Although ostensibly about Dooku, the story is told through the lens of Asaj Ventress as she runs a mission for Dooku.

I did enjoy the deeper dive into Ventress's motivations and history, though I'm annoyed at the changes. I see absolutely no reason whatsoever to have changed her back story from what is presented in the Clone Wars.

Through holo recordings we get a deep look at Dooku's own past, and while fascinating I again just can't understand why the timeline is being changed.

Ultimately, I couldn't rate the story 5 stars for 3 reasons.

1) The jumps between times and points of view are sometimes quite abrupt and a little jarring.

2) The plot is rather convoluted and only connects to the actual point of the story in its last 1-2 hours.

3) The new explanation for Dooku leaving the order seems a little thin to me.

Apart from feeling unsatisfied about Dooku, the ending was well put together and settled the plot nicely."

Dooku Jedi Lost Star Wars Audible Audio Edition Cavan Scott Orlagh Cassidy Euan Morton Marc Thompson Full Cast Random House Audio Books Reviews

  • Star Wars Dooku Jedi Lost, is an audio-presentation written by Cavan Scott and was published by Penguin Random-House Audio. The runtime is just shy of 6 and a half hours. It’s narrated by a full cast with several familiar voices that have appeared in other Star Wars content.

    To name a few
    Euan Morton as Dooku
    Orlagh Cassidy as Asajj Ventress
    Marc Thompson as Yoda
    January LaVoy as Jor Aerith
    Jonathan Davis as Qui-Gon Jinn
    Along with many others.

SUMMARY Assassin Asajj Ventress, is sent on a mission by her master, Count Dooku. On this mission, Ventress is haunted by the voice her former Jedi Master, Ky Nerec. She struggles with determining if the voice is really his, haunting her from beyond the grave, or if she’s lost her mind. Her loyalty to Dooku is tested.

She learns of Dooku’s past through various Holos and even his personal journal. The story of Dooku’s life unfolds before her eyes, from his youth as a Jedi youngling... to the Sith he becomes.

CHARACTERS This audio-presentation has a few new characters as well as some we do know. Yoda is wise as ever, Asajj just trying to her job well and please her master, and of course Dooku.

Dooku He’s born to the royal family on Serenno before being taken by the Jedi Order as child. In his youth, he befriends fellow youngling, Sifo-Dyas. Dooku as a bit of rebel, taking matters into his own hands no matter what the Jedi Council says. He holds onto an attachment from his youth, which is highly frowned upon by the Jedi Order. As he grows, his faith in the Jedi and struggle with the light, falter.

OVERALL THOUGHTS Dooku Jedi Lost, is an outstanding audio-presentation. I really wish this story was available as a book we can all hold in our hands. However, the voice actors did a wonderful job portraying their characters, some we are familiar with, others that are new.

The story is rich with connective threads that tie into other canon material. Finding out about Dooku’s past wasn’t always on the top of my list of things I’d wanted in Star Wars. This story proved me wrong. It’s full of surprising details that got me excited.

I can’t say much else about the story here, but I will be posting a spoiler video. In the spoiler video I’ll be able to talk more freely about the audio-presentation and reveal some awesome details.

So, do I recommend that you listen to Star Wars Dooku Jedi Lost? Most definitely yes.

    RATING I give this audio-presentation an A+
